Ever wondered which anime characters have your personality type? Today we’re going to explore ten of the most significant ENTP anime characters to-date. Keep in mind, anime characters often have attributes of more than one personality type. After all, the writers of “My Hero Academia” didn’t sit down with Isabel Briggs-Myers Gifts, Differing when they wrote their characters (although that would have been entertaining to observe!). Rintaro Okabe in Steins;Gate

“The “present” is a leaf floating on top of the river. It moves along with the flow from past to future.” – Rintaro Okabe

Creative and ceaselessly curious, Rintaro captures the stereotypical “mad scientist” version of the ENTP. Eccentric, intelligent, and innovative, he might seem completely off-the-wall to many viewers at first. It isn’t until further into the series that we learn there’s a “method for his madness” and much of his over-the-top persona is a façade that he employs to encourage his childhood friend Mayuri, after her grandmother’s death. Okabe’s hunger for discovery and his dedication to circumventing the seemingly “inevitable” will be inspiring to many ENTP viewers.

Hange Zoe from Attack on Titan

“I want everyone to feel safe again soon…I want this to be a world where people can live without fighting.” – Hange Zoe

One of my favorite Attack on Titan characters, Hange is driven by her curiosity and her hunger to attain new information about the titans. As the 14 th commander of the Survey Corps, she may not have the serious demeanor of Erwin Smith, but her inventive, insightful perspective proves highly valuable. She devotes all her actions to attaining the freedom of mankind from the titans. Like most ENTPs, freedom is her core drive, and understanding how the titans think propels her forward in the midst of devastating situations. When surrounded by chaos, Hange manages to exude a lighthearted, inquisitive outlook rather than falling prey to her emotions. She uses her intuitive and thinking sides to create innovative weapons, formulate strategies, and figure out complex problems. Hange exhibits the inventiveness, humor, and spontaneous nature of the ENTP personality type.

Osamu Dazai from Bungou Stray Dogs

“If you place yourself somewhere close to raw emotions, where you are exposed to violence and death, instinct and desire, you can brush against man’s true nature. I thought that way I could find a reason to live somehow.” – Osamu Dazai

Creative, ingenious, and risk-taking, Dozai manages to survive his own bizarre suicide attempts while simultaneously solving extremely complex mysteries and crimes. His irreverent sense of humor and playful but clever demeanor make him both impressive and infuriating to his fellow agents. In typical ENTP fashion, Dozai is often mislabeled as “lazy” even though his brain is frenetically active. His quick, agile mind can be used to both play pranks and spot loopholes in his opponent’s plans.

Lloyd Asplund from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

“I think that “truth” is something that is covered up most of the time.” – Lloyd Asplund

Lloyd is the intellectual genius behind Brittania’s Knightmare Frame, Lancelot. Yet even though he is the Earl of Brittanian nobility, he cares less about Brittania’s motives than he does about being able to experiment and learn freely. He dedicates himself to science and, unfortunately, uses people in order to experiment with his inventions rather than caring about them as individuals. That said, his innovative mind and quirky sense of humor make him an endearing character in the series.

Ryuk from Death Note

“The human world is a boring place with boring people doing boring things.” – Ryuk

In an on-point presentation of ENTP behavior, Ryuk, a Shinigami, indirectly gives Light Yagami a Death Note simply because he’s bored and wants to see what will happen. Repetition, routine, and predictability are the bane of Ryuk’s existence, and many ENTPs will fully relate to this dilemma. Unlike most Shinigami, Ryuk doesn’t want to spend his life doing pointless, repetitive tasks. He wants to satiate his curiosity and his sense of exploration by seeing what humans will do if they have the power to control life or death. He may not be the most fully-developed character in anime, but he still gives us an excellent example of ENTP curiosity.

Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist

“There’s no such thing as a painless lesson, they just don’t exist. Sacrifices are necessary, you can’t gain something without losing something first… Although if you can endure that pain and walk away from it, you’ll find that you now have a heart strong enough to overcome any obstacle… Yeah… A Fullmetal Heart.” – Edward Elric, Fullmetal Alchemist

Rebellious and creative, Edward Elric captures the strong-willed, perceptive nature of the ENTP. He can quickly devise possibilities in any situation and shows obvious excitement when he can explore concepts, theories, and new challenges. His quick-witted, clever nature exemplifies his use of Extraverted Intuition and Introverted Thinking. He knows how to bend the rules at precisely the right time in order to achieve his goals. He also showcases the sharp, cheeky sense of humor that ENTPs are famous for.

Hanako from Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun (Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun)

“No matter how much you regret or wish, if you couldn’t do something in life, you can’t do it after death either.” – Hanako

As the leader of the Seven Mysteries, Hanako works to maintain the balance between the human world and the spiritual world. Mischievous and curious, he playfully teases the students he encounters and tries to find offbeat ways to make his life as a ghost less dull and monotonous. He’s clever and resourceful, never backing down from a challenge and finding surprising solutions to his troubles.

Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen

“My students will either grow up with a sarcastic, dark sense of humor, or they’ll wind up a serial killer team. Either way, I’m excited that I won’t have to bring them to birthday parties.” – Satoru Gojo

Snarky and intelligent, Satoru Gojo has a knack for figuring out his enemies’ plans with just a tidbit of information. He knows how to adapt to any situation and enjoys an unpredictable, spontaneous lifestyle. His offbeat sense of humor and playful, irreverent personality make him a fan-favorite. As an intuitive-dominant personality, he keeps his eye on the big picture and knows how to negotiate situations in order to meet his more complex, long-term goals.

Accelerator from A Certain Magical Index

“I’m right in the middle of hunting down spies. Do you really think I have time to deal with your stupid drama? But tell me everything. I want to hear it all!” – Accelerator

Quirky, eccentric, and curious, Accelerator gives us a look at a rather unstable version of the ENTP personality type. Unlike an ESTP, Accelerator’s fighting style is random and experimental. He enjoys new challenges and rambling about his thought processes while he’s fighting, even posing questions to his opponents mid-battle. When he isn’t on a mission, he enjoys wandering aimlessly to explore new places and see where his intuition guides him. He is analytical and curious, more interested in toying with his environment than directing or controlling it.

Franky from One Piece

“So how do we want to approach this then? I got a ton of plans. One of ‘em’s gotta work.” – Franky

Strong-willed and free-spirited, Franky enjoys getting to know a variety of unlikely individuals. He’s clearly inventive and creative, easily coming up with ideas and strategies at any given moment. His lively, impulsive personality inspires his crew and he often whips out his guitar to sing even in the middle of chaotic battles. His thinking side shows up in his ability to rationalize any decision from any angle, using relative logic rather than absolute statements.

The Debaters and Trolls: ENTP Anime Characters

Welcome to Anime Rants! The letters in ENTP stand for extraverted, intuitive, thinking, and judging. Someone of this type draws energy from interactions with others, usually makes decisions based on a logical process rather than going with their gut, prefers a flexible lifestyle, and is a creative thinker interested in ideas over practicality. ENTPs are high-energy, single-minded with their focus, and a little eccentric. They can get extremely excited about their interests, plans, hobbies, or new ideas. They enjoy teasing and pranking others, or any other form of messing with people.

This list contains 16 randomly selected ENTP anime characters. A few notes will be included with some of them. Now without further ado, here’s the list!

Akise Aru (Mirai Nikki/ The Future Diary)

Akise is incredibly mentally quick, passionate about his interests, loves to debate, and sometimes acts in a way to irritate others on purpose. (Think of that famous kiss he steals from Yukiteru.) In general, he’s also charming, suave, and confident, with good people skills.

Dazai Osamu (Bungou Stray Dogs)

Dazai is an odd duck, but is never ashamed of his weirdness. Rather, he’s brimming with confidence, impressing enemies and friends alike with his keen mind and persuasive tongue. (Think of when he faces Chuuya and talks his way out of being imprisoned by the Port Mafia in the first season.) Dazai loves to tease everyone he knows and push their buttons for his personal entertainment. He’s high-energy, very excitable, and easily bored with practical concerns.

Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)

A bit of a special case, Haruhi goes too far with the ENTP trait of always needing to have her way, be right, be the best, or be the winner. (She literally drags people around and forces them to join her club, and she’s always bullying Asahina-san.) She tramples over the feelings of others and pushes them past their limits this much partly due to being a moody and spoiled teenager. Eccentric, impatient, but somehow charismatic, Haruhi loves new ideas and activities.

Karma Akabane (Assassination Classroom)

Besides being more violent and, er, sociopathic, Karma is otherwise a great case of an archtypal ENTP. He’s the smartest in class. He’s passionate about his interests (killing his teacher), but charming and very sociable. Karma enjoys messing with and scaring others, winning fights and arguments, taking risks, and trying new things.

Kyoko Sakura (Madoka Magica)

You get the idea now. Kyoko’s traits include quick thinking, interest in new ideas, insistence on having her way, needing to win every time, impatience, a short fuse, and the ability to draw people in and get along with them if she tries. (Remember how she bullies Sayaka so much at first, and actually gets really worked up about winning when it becomes a real fight.)

Nui Harime (Kill la Kill)

Nui is a troll who ruins everything for fun.

Okabe Rintarou (Steins;Gate)

A self-proclaimed mad scientist with a fictional name of Hououin Kyouma, Okabe believes in time travel and thinks he’s being targeted by an evil organization trying to take over the world. This young man takes ENTP eccentricity to even greater heights. I’m never entirely assured of his sanity, even if his delusions are usually right, in the end. Other ENTP traits of Okabe: prone to impatience, likes winning debates, playfully insults and jokes with his friends, often acts arrogant, has above average intelligence, and possesses weird sort of charisma.

Raphiel Ainsworth Shiraha (Gabriel Dropout)

If you’ve seen the anime, you know. The best example of Raphiel being an ENTP is the way she just adores teasing and pranking Satania. She has too much fun for her own good, and it can get pretty creepy, honestly. Who would expect an angel to be so devilish?

Sadao Maou (The Devil is a Part-Timer!)

This guy is a much more mature ENTP than the others on this list, controlling his devilish-ness well, becoming less argumentative, and putting his charm and charisma to good use at his humble job. I’ve seen this anime only once and I wasn’t trying to study the characters, so really, that’s all I can say. I do know the general opinion in online forums is that Sadao is an ENTP.

Satoru Asahina (Shin Sekai Yori)

Satoru is an example of an ENTP “with his ducks in a row.” As a kid/teen, he was a childish ENTP who liked making mischief, teasing and scaring his friends, winning competitions, insisting on being right, and acting arrogant. Throughout his life, Satoru was always a sharp one, and as he grew, he continued to be skilled, quick-witted and knowledgeable, showing amazing insight. Satoru as a grown man is still prone to being stubborn, argumentative, and reckless, but overall, he’s extremely well-balanced and grounded, reasonably polite and friendly, and always up for a good talk or debate.

Shigure Souma (Fruits Basket)

Shigure is possessed by the dog spirit of the Zodiac, and since dogs are among the smartest mammals, it follows that this man is highly intelligent. He’s also flirtatious, likes to mess with people a bit too much, likes to win and have his way, and is a welcoming, friendly host. Shigure is a smooth communicator both verbally and in his writing.

Shougo Makishima (Psycho-Pass)

The main antagonist in Psycho-Pass is mentally and intellectually quick and sharp. Charming and charismatic, he is a smooth talker as well. Makishima seeks to let people explore their true selves and desires, at the cost of destroying social order and causing mass violence. He is entertained by upsetting the peace. With his inventive ideas and brilliant mind, this man is definitely iNtuitive. He uses extroverted intuition to process what’s going on around him. In addition, Makishima is a Thinker type. Unlike the more organized long-term planners the ENTJs, Makishima and other ENTPs are adaptible, flexible, and quickly able to change plans.

Takagi-san (Karakai Jouzu Takagi-san)

The majority of people who watch this show, including myself, can’t get enough of little miss Takagi. We love her. But I wonder, would we still adore her if we were on the recieving end of her endless teasing? For a cute, innocent-looking girl just starting middleschool, the level of her trolling seems almost cruel! Clever, confident, and friendly, Takagi is the teasing master.

Zero Two (Darling in the Franxx)

Zero Two is a case of an ENTP with other issues (feelings of emptiness and other intense emotions) complicating and worsening her negative traits. She is masterful at pushing others’ buttons. It’s hard for others to know when she’s serious– unless she’s angry. Then everybody on this side of the world can tell. But as everyone knows who admires Zero Two, she’s wonderful to be around when she’s stable. She likes having friends and gets to know people quickly. Passionate about the boy she loves, Zero Two is smart, skilled, and funny.

Zoe Hange (Shingeki no Kyojin)

Remember when Hange talks at Eren for an entire night, from dark to sunrise, about her theories and experiments and ideas related to Titans? That’s very ENTP. Hange also exemplifies most of the other traits and tendencies mentioned in above entries.

Борец (ENFP) — Каори Миядзоно, «Твоя апрельская ложь»

Свободолюбивая Каори выражает себя как Борец. Ее свободолюбивый дух, позволяющий девушке ломать систему в музыке выводит из себя судей, но подкупает слуштелей. Как типичный интуит, Каори часто опускает детали партитуры, но восполняет их субъективным, уникальным подходом. Она никому не позволяет собой командовать, а Борцы ведь те еще индивидуалисты.

Полемист (ENTP) — Эдвард Элрик, «Стальной алхимик»

Посредник (INFP) — Кен Канеки, «Токийский гуль»

Делец (ESTP) — Кацуки Бакуго, «Моя геройская академия»

В мире манги и аниме сложно найти такую же харизматичную и в то же время агрессивную булочку как Кацуки Бакуго. Он персонаж неугомонный и при этом тактически гениальный. Кацуки изобретательно обводит своих противников вокруг пальца, а его энергия работает в типичной для Дельца манере — на 150 из 100%. Кому-то Бакуго может показаться мускулами без разума, но в действии он здорово удивит их многогранностью и нестандартностью своих решений.

Артист (ISFP) — Саске Учиха, «Наруто»

Почему Саске кажется мне Артистом? Все просто. Несмотря на замкнутость, он крайне эмоциональный человек, который не оглядывается назад, смотря далеко в будущее. Действовать он предпочитает в одиночку, а к лидерству не особо стремится. За всю историю «Наруто» Саске успел побывать по обе стороны баррикад, нисколько не потеряв в популярности среди фанатов этой легендарной саги.

Виртуоз (ISTP) — Сайтама, «Ванпанчмен»

Согласись, Виртуозы часто жалуются на то, как их все достало. Сайтама делает также! Он постоянно пытается что-то сделать, чего-то достичь, но из-за подавленного состояния не может успокоиться и найти свой дзен. Сайтама может и нагрубить, и проигнорить, но чаще неосознанно, ведь по своей натуре он все же спокойный и дружелюбный парень. Он живет настоящим и часто откладывает насущные дела, чтобы избежать лишнего стресса.

Консул (ESFJ) — Мами Томоэ, «Девочка-волшебница Мадока»

Менеджер (ESTJ) — Аска Лэнгли Сорью, «Евангелион»

С этим аниме у меня сложная история: очень уж много в нем тревожных и травмирующих моментов не только для зрителя, но и для самих персонажей. Без сильной личности, готовой пройти испытания любой ценой, «Евангелион» не стал бы таким глобальным феноменом, классикой японского аниме и манги.

Аска — та самая личность. И, раз уж мы говорим о типологии, вполне себе яркий пример Менеджера. Конечно, в ней присутствуют не все качества этого типа, но эта ее властность и желание делать все правильно… Очень похоже на ESTJ, пускай и с меньшей эмоциональной стабильностью.

Защитник (ISFJ) — Рем, «Re: Zero. Жизнь с нуля в альтернативном мире»

Нежная и заботливая Рем выдает в ней внимательного и лояльного Защитника. Свои способности она использует для общего блага, используя магию воды не только для атаки, но и для излечения тех, кого она любит. Рем даже умереть готова, лишь бы остальные были в безопасности. Она доказывает свою верность как действиями, так и словами. Ее добродушие, правда, играет с ней злую шутку, но Рем такая и поэтому очень, очень классная.

Администратор (ISTJ) — Микаса Аккерман, «Атака Титанов»

Дисциплинированная, серьезная и закрытая в себе Микаса — образцовый Администратор. Хотя, сначала она напоминала мне Виртуоза, из-за намеков на экстравертность. Это я о том, как Микаса быстро и четко реагирует на неожиданности. Но она, как ты знаешь, все свои переживания держит при себе, открывая их Эрену только в самые безнадежные моменты. Для Микасы верность друзьяи и союзникам стоит превыше всего. Вспомни, она всегда была на стороне Эрена, даже когда остальные его осуждали.
