Keep in mind, anime characters often have attributes of more than one personality type. Creative and ceaselessly curious, Rintaro captures the stereotypical βmad scientistβ version of the ENTP. Eccentric, intelligent, and innovative, he might seem completely off-the-wall to many viewers at first. It isnβt until further into the series that we learn thereβs a βmethod for his madnessβ and much of his over-the-top persona is a faΓ§ade that he employs to encourage his childhood friend Mayuri, after her grandmotherβs death. Okabeβs hunger for discovery and his dedication to circumventing the seemingly βinevitableβ will be inspiring to many ENTP viewers.
Hange Zoe from Attack on Titan
βI want everyone to feel safe again soonβ¦I want this to be a world where people can live without fighting.β β Hange Zoe
One of my favorite Attack on Titan characters, Hange is driven by her curiosity and her hunger to attain new information about the titans. As the 14 th commander of the Survey Corps, she may not have the serious demeanor of Erwin Smith, but her inventive, insightful perspective proves highly valuable. She devotes all her actions to attaining the freedom of mankind from the titans. Like most ENTPs, freedom is her core drive, and understanding how the titans think propels her forward in the midst of devastating situations. When surrounded by chaos, Hange manages to exude a lighthearted, inquisitive outlook rather than falling prey to her emotions. She uses her intuitive and thinking sides to create innovative weapons, formulate strategies, and figure out complex problems. Hange exhibits the inventiveness, humor, and spontaneous nature of the ENTP personality type.
Osamu Dazai from Bungou Stray Dogs

Creative, ingenious, and risk-taking, Dozai manages to survive his own bizarre suicide attempts while simultaneously solving extremely complex mysteries and crimes. That said, his innovative mind and quirky sense of humor make him an endearing character in the series.
Ryuk from Death Note

In an on-point presentation of ENTP behavior, Ryuk, a Shinigami, indirectly gives Light Yagami a Death Note simply because heβs bored and wants to see what will happen. Repetition, routine, and predictability are the bane of Ryukβs existence, and many ENTPs will fully relate to this dilemma. Unlike most Shinigami, Ryuk doesnβt want to spend his life doing pointless, repetitive tasks. He wants to satiate his curiosity and his sense of exploration by seeing what humans will do if they have the power to control life or death. Quirky, eccentric, and curious, Accelerator gives us a look at a rather unstable version of the ENTP personality type. Unlike an ESTP, Acceleratorβs fighting style is random and experimental. He enjoys new challenges and rambling about his thought processes while heβs fighting, even posing questions to his opponents mid-battle. When he isnβt on a mission, he enjoys wandering aimlessly to explore new places and see where his intuition guides him. He is analytical and curious, more interested in toying with his environment than directing or controlling it.

The Debaters and Trolls: ENTP Anime Characters
Welcome to Anime Rants! The letters in ENTP stand for extraverted, intuitive, thinking, and judging. Someone of this type draws energy from interactions with others, usually makes decisions based on a logical process rather than going with their gut, prefers a flexible lifestyle, and is a creative thinker interested in ideas over practicality. ENTPs are high-energy, single-minded with their focus, and a little eccentric. They can get extremely excited about their interests, plans, hobbies, or new ideas. They enjoy teasing and pranking others, or any other form of messing with people.
This list contains 16 randomly selected ENTP anime characters. A few notes will be included with some of them. Now without further ado, hereβs the list!
Akise Aru (Mirai Nikki/ The Future Diary)
Akise is incredibly mentally quick, passionate about his interests, loves to debate, and sometimes acts in a way to irritate others on purpose. (Think of that famous kiss he steals from Yukiteru.) In general, heβs also charming, suave, and confident, with good people skills.
Dazai Osamu (Bungou Stray Dogs)
Dazai is an odd duck, but is never ashamed of his weirdness. Rather, heβs brimming with confidence, impressing enemies and friends alike with his keen mind and persuasive tongue. (Think of when he faces Chuuya and talks his way out of being imprisoned by the Port Mafia in the first season.) Dazai loves to tease everyone he knows and push their buttons for his personal entertainment. Heβs high-energy, very excitable, and easily bored with practical concerns.
Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
A bit of a special case, Haruhi goes too far with the ENTP trait of always needing to have her way, be right, be the best, or be the winner. (She literally drags people around and forces them to join her club, and sheβs always bullying Asahina-san.) She tramples over the feelings of others and pushes them past their limits this much partly due to being a moody and spoiled teenager. Eccentric, impatient, but somehow charismatic, Haruhi loves new ideas and activities.
Karma Akabane (Assassination Classroom)
Besides being more violent and, er, sociopathic, Karma is otherwise a great case of an archtypal ENTP. Heβs the smartest in class. Heβs passionate about his interests (killing his teacher), but charming and very sociable. Karma enjoys messing with and scaring others, winning fights and arguments, taking risks, and trying new things.
Kyoko Sakura (Madoka Magica)
You get the idea now. Kyokoβs traits include quick thinking, interest in new ideas, insistence on having her way, needing to win every time, impatience, a short fuse, and the ability to draw people in and get along with them if she tries. (Remember how she bullies Sayaka so much at first, and actually gets really worked up about winning when it becomes a real fight.)
Nui Harime (Kill la Kill)
Nui is a troll who ruins everything for fun.
Okabe Rintarou (Steins;Gate)
A self-proclaimed mad scientist with a fictional name of Hououin Kyouma, Okabe believes in time travel and thinks heβs being targeted by an evil organization trying to take over the world. This young man takes ENTP eccentricity to even greater heights. Iβm never entirely assured of his sanity, even if his delusions are usually right, in the end. Other ENTP traits of Okabe: prone to impatience, likes winning debates, playfully insults and jokes with his friends, often acts arrogant, has above average intelligence, and possesses weird sort of charisma.
Raphiel Ainsworth Shiraha (Gabriel Dropout)
If youβve seen the anime, you know. The best example of Raphiel being an ENTP is the way she just adores teasing and pranking Satania. She has too much fun for her own good, and it can get pretty creepy, honestly. Who would expect an angel to be so devilish?
Sadao Maou (The Devil is a Part-Timer!)
This guy is a much more mature ENTP than the others on this list, controlling his devilish-ness well, becoming less argumentative, and putting his charm and charisma to good use at his humble job. Iβve seen this anime only once and I wasnβt trying to study the characters, so really, thatβs all I can say. I do know the general opinion in online forums is that Sadao is an ENTP.
Satoru Asahina (Shin Sekai Yori)
Satoru is an example of an ENTP βwith his ducks in a row.β As a kid/teen, he was a childish ENTP who liked making mischief, teasing and scaring his friends, winning competitions, insisting on being right, and acting arrogant. Throughout his life, Satoru was always a sharp one, and as he grew, he continued to be skilled, quick-witted and knowledgeable, showing amazing insight. Satoru as a grown man is still prone to being stubborn, argumentative, and reckless, but overall, heβs extremely well-balanced and grounded, reasonably polite and friendly, and always up for a good talk or debate.
Shigure Souma (Fruits Basket)
Shigure is possessed by the dog spirit of the Zodiac, and since dogs are among the smartest mammals, it follows that this man is highly intelligent. Heβs also flirtatious, likes to mess with people a bit too much, likes to win and have his way, and is a welcoming, friendly host. Shigure is a smooth communicator both verbally and in his writing.
Shougo Makishima (Psycho-Pass)
The main antagonist in Psycho-Pass is mentally and intellectually quick and sharp. Charming and charismatic, he is a smooth talker as well. Makishima seeks to let people explore their true selves and desires, at the cost of destroying social order and causing mass violence. He is entertained by upsetting the peace. With his inventive ideas and brilliant mind, this man is definitely iNtuitive. He uses extroverted intuition to process whatβs going on around him. In addition, Makishima is a Thinker type. Unlike the more organized long-term planners the ENTJs, Makishima and other ENTPs are adaptible, flexible, and quickly able to change plans.
Takagi-san (Karakai Jouzu Takagi-san)
The majority of people who watch this show, including myself, canβt get enough of little miss Takagi. We love her. But I wonder, would we still adore her if we were on the recieving end of her endless teasing? For a cute, innocent-looking girl just starting middleschool, the level of her trolling seems almost cruel! Clever, confident, and friendly, Takagi is the teasing master.
Zero Two (Darling in the Franxx)
Zero Two is a case of an ENTP with other issues (feelings of emptiness and other intense emotions) complicating and worsening her negative traits. She is masterful at pushing othersβ buttons. Itβs hard for others to know when sheβs seriousβ unless sheβs angry. Then everybody on this side of the world can tell. But as everyone knows who admires Zero Two, sheβs wonderful to be around when sheβs stable. She likes having friends and gets to know people quickly. Passionate about the boy she loves, Zero Two is smart, skilled, and funny.
Zoe Hange (Shingeki no Kyojin)
Remember when Hange talks at Eren for an entire night, from dark to sunrise, about her theories and experiments and ideas related to Titans? Thatβs very ENTP. Hange also exemplifies most of the other traits and tendencies mentioned in above entries.
