Text № 1.Animals of India.
India is in South Asia, next to Pakistan, China and Nepal.
Many amazing animals live there. The Bengal tiger is the national animal of India. It is red or orange with black, grey or brown stripes. It hides in tall grass and hunts big animals like deer. It is a really beautiful animal.
The Indian cobra is a black, brown, white or yellow snake. It is a very dangerous snake.
Indian elephants are very big and tall (2-3 metres), but they have small ears. Usually a big female is the head of a family of elephants. Indian people use elephants to carry heavy things with their trunks.
The Indian rhino is a funny animal! It only has one horn (African rhinos have two). It usually lives alone and likes to sit in water or mud. There are only about 2,500 Indian rhinos today.

Text № 2.Tourist Attractions
Every year, millions of tourists come to London to see and listen to Big Ben. But, what exactly is Big Ben?
Most people think that Big Ben is the tall clock tower that stands above the Houses of Parliament. Well no! Big Ben is not the clock tower. It is one of the four huge bells inside the tower. Its name comes from the bell’s commissioner of works, Sir Benjamin Hall, or Ben. The tower is 98 metres high. The bell inside the tower is 14 tons. The clock on the tower is also huge. Each of the four clock faces is 7 metres wide. The hour hands are about 3 metres long and the minute hands are about 4 metres long.
Perhaps one day you can go to London and see this amazing tourist attraction.

We have a table full of food, crisps, sandwiches, small cakes and chocolate biscuits, ice cream arid very small sausages you eat on a stick. I just love them. We decorate the house with balloons and I play party games with my friends. It’s fantastic.
Birthday celebrations are very special in China. We eat very long noodles that mean we will have a long life. I eat them in soup and try not to cut them because it’s unlucky! We also eat red eggs. Red is a special colour in China. It always means something happy and brings good luck. We decorate the house with red paper and all the к family comes for a party, we also get money in red envelopes, it’s fun.

Mike and Liza are going to visit their grandmother. It is her birthday today. They have cards and balloons. Mum is carrying a birthday cake. Dad is carrying a present. They are going to go to Grandma’s house by car. Max, their dog, cannot go to Grandma’s house with them. The car is very small.
Dad opens the car and puts the present on the roof of the car. They all get inside. And off they go! The present falls down on the ground.
They are at the grandma’s house. She likes the cads and the balloons. She likes the cake, too. She is very happy. “Where is the present?” asks Mum. “I don’t know”, says Dad.
There is a knock at the door. It’s Max! He has Grandma’s present. “You are a clever dog, Max!” they all say.
Grandma’s present is new pullover. She likes it very much. “What a lovely pullover!” she says. The family is very happy. And Max is happy, too. Dad gives him a big piece of cake, “Here you are, Max. Thank you very much.”

The Rich Man and the Gold
There was once a very rich man. He had three cars and two houses and many other things.
One day he said, «I am getting old. I’m going to sell everything and buy a big piece of gold. »
He sold his houses and his cars and everything and he bought a very big piece of gold. He dug a hole near a tree, and he put the piece of gold into the hole. «No one will find my gold here», he said.
Every day he went back and dug up the gold. He looked at it and said, «Good! My gold is there». Then he put the gold back into the hole and put the earth back on top of it.
But one day there was a man behind the tree. He was a thief and he was asleep. The rich man didn’t see the thief. He dug up the gold and looked at it. «Good! » he said, «My gold is there». The thief woke up and looked round the tree. «What is the man putting into the hole? » he thought. «I’m going to find out». The rich man put the gold back into the hole and went away. Then the thief went to the hole and dug up the gold. «A big piece of gold! » he said. «It’s my gold now. I am a rich man. » He ran off with the gold and never came back. The next day the first man came back and began to dig. He dug and he dug but he did not find the gold. «My gold is not here», he said. «I am not a rich man now. I have no gold! » and he began to cry. Then he went home and told one of his friends. His friend said, «Don’t cry. Here is a big stone. Take it and put it in the hole. Then every day you can go and dig it up and look at it». A piece of gold in a hole is no better than a stone.

Catherine waited at the side of the road for a minute, and then the policeman stopped the cars and the buses. Catherine went to him and said, «Good morning. Have you seen any ladies in this street this morning? »
«Yes, I have», the policeman said. «A lot of ladies have passed me this morning».
«And has one passed you without a small girl? » Catherine said.
«Yes, » the policeman said.
Catherine said happily, «I’m the small girl. Where’s the lady? »

1. Tigers, monkeys, snakes and fish in the centre of the Russian capital! These animals all live in the Moscow Zoo, one of the largest in the world. It is the home for over 7000 different kinds of animals. The zoo also has got many exotic animals and birds. Get a map to make sure you see everything.

Чтение является одним из важнейших видов коммуникативно-познавательной деятельности учащихся. Эта деятельность направлена на извлечение информации из письменно фиксированного текста. Чтение выполняет различные функции: служит для практического овладения иностранным языком, является средством изучения языка и культуры, средством информационной и образовательной деятельности и средством самообразования. Как известно, чтение способствует развитию других видов коммуникативной деятельности. Именно чтение даёт наибольшие возможности для воспитания и всестороннего развития школьников средствами иностранного языка.
Обучение чтению в казахстанских школах диктуется условиями обучения и потребностями общества. Так например в тестовых заданиях при сдаче ЕНТ и ВОУД встречаются вопросы, касающиеся чтения: например, 1.определите слово с тем или иным типом слога, 2.найдите слово, которое читается отлично от других, 3. как читается то или иное буквосочетание, 4.прочитайте текст и выполните задание по содержанию текста и др. для оценки уровня развития умений чтения.
В данной работе чтение рассматривается как отдельный самостоятельный вид речевой деятельности, так и средство формирования языковых навыков и развития умений, способствующих развитию коммуникации на иностранном языке. Иначе говоря, в обучении иностранному языку чтение представляет собой одно из важнейших средств получения информации, с одной стороны, и средство освоения знаний о языковых явлениях изучаемого языка, с другой. В работе представлено поэтапное знакомство с правилами чтения букв и буквосочетаний, отработка этих правил в упражнениях, работа с текстами и выполнение различных заданий по прочитанному. Этим объясняется актуальность данной работы.
